Terms of Service
Last updated: August 6, 2026
1. What PlateDash is
PlateDash is a subscription software service for restaurants. It turns your printed menu into a digital menu reachable by QR code, lets your guests order from their own phones, and gives you a dashboard, orders board, kitchen display and printing tools to run service.
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Your account
You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep your password confidential. One account is tied to one restaurant.
You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including actions by kitchen staff accounts you create.
3. Subscription and billing
PlateDash is a paid subscription, billed monthly through our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy. Current plans and prices are shown on the pricing page.
Cash orders are always commission-free. If you enable online card payments, you also add a billing card for platform fees: 2% of online order totals on Starter, 1.5% on Pro. Fees are calculated in your restaurant currency, converted to USD at the daily reference rate, and charged automatically to that card once a month through Lemon Squeezy — your monthly report and billing settings show the exact amounts. If a fee charge ultimately fails after retries, online checkout pauses until the card is fixed; your menu and cash orders keep working. Fees already charged are not clawed back on refunds you issue to guests.
You can cancel anytime from your billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; payments already made are not refunded except where required by law.
If a payment fails, we retry it for a grace period. If it ultimately fails, your subscription expires and the service is locked until you subscribe again. Your data is not deleted when a subscription lapses.
4. Your content and responsibilities
You keep full ownership of your menus, images, prices and restaurant information. You grant us only the right to store and display that content so the service can function.
You are responsible for the accuracy of your menu — prices, descriptions, allergen and dietary labels. AI extraction is a starting point; you review everything before it goes live, and the final menu your guests see is your responsibility.
Allergy and dietary information shown to guests comes from you. Guests with allergies must always confirm directly with your restaurant.
You are responsible for fulfilling orders your guests place, for the quality and safety of your food, and for complying with local food, tax and licensing laws.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service. That includes: uploading menus or images you have no right to use, placing fraudulent orders, attempting to access another restaurant's data, interfering with the service's operation, or using it for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules.
6. Guest orders
Guests order through your public menu page without creating an account. The order details they enter (name, phone, table) are shared with you so you can serve them. You act as the controller of that customer data and must handle it lawfully.
If you enable online payments, guests pay through your own Stripe account, which you connect to PlateDash with a restricted-access API key. You are the merchant of record for those payments: refunds, disputes, chargebacks and sales tax are your responsibility, and Stripe's own terms apply to your account. PlateDash never holds or forwards your funds — guest payments settle directly to your Stripe account. Your Stripe key is stored encrypted and is used only to create checkout sessions and register the payment webhook on your behalf.
7. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance, provider outages or factors outside our control may cause downtime. Always keep a way to take orders manually during service.
We may improve, change or retire features over time. If a change materially reduces what your plan includes, we will give reasonable notice.
8. Limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost revenue, lost orders, missed customers — arising from use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Termination
You can stop using PlateDash and cancel your subscription at any time. We may terminate access for breach of these terms. On termination your right to use the service ends; we may delete your data after a reasonable period.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update the date above and, for material changes, notify account owners by email. Continued use after the change means you accept the new terms.
